Battery notes for Mercedes-Benz
- Mercedes-Benz says the battery is not accessible on every model, and tells owners to jump start only through the dedicated jump-start point in the engine compartment.
- Some models have a second, auxiliary battery. On the SL (R230), for example, Mercedes warns never to jump start from the auxiliary battery in the boot.
- Models with start-stop and heavy electrical loads commonly use AGM batteries. Mercedes limits charging voltage for its batteries, so use a suitable charger.
- Battery registration: The car's battery management generally adapts to a new battery on its own, without coding.
