Start-Stop, AGM and European Cars
A car with start-stop switches its engine off at every red light and restarts it many times on each trip. A conventional battery isn't built for that much cycling, so these cars use an AGM or EFB battery. Fitting a cheaper conventional battery instead leads to early failure, and it fails faster in Dubai heat.
Many BMW, Mini, Audi, Volkswagen and Land Rover models also expect the new battery to be registered with the car using a diagnostic tool, so the car charges it as a new battery. Mercedes-Benz models generally adapt on their own. Tell us your model and year when you book and we confirm what your car needs before any work starts.
On many European cars the battery is not under the bonnet: it sits in the boot, under the boot floor or under a seat. That takes longer to reach and the batteries are larger, which is why European cars are typically AED 300 – AED 1,000 fitted and luxury models AED 500 – AED 1,600.
